"Welcome" text

Hey there! Welcome to the virtual launch of StyleCircle’s 6th issue of The Book: Prefix. I am so proud of what this year’s team has accomplished from the creation of The Book, to the amount of content we produced for our website, to the introduction of The Podcast, and to the StyleCircle Marketplace. In this website, you will find exhibits coordinated by the events team; these exhibits are extensions of select editorials from The Book, which you can buy on our shop page. You can also find our livestream with performances from local Toronto artists, shn shn, EnriMart, and JEWELLE. We have also created a playlist with songs selected by the team, and on Instagram, you can participate in the #StyleCircleFitChallenge and show off the outfit you would have worn to the in-person launch! I hope you enjoy and take in the incredible creations of the StyleCircle 2020/2021 team!

- Danica Hooper (she/her), Director of Events

The land where StyleCircle operates has an important history, present and future that we need to understand and acknowledge. This land is called Turtle Island, and it is originally the home of many Indigenous peoples. It is the unceded traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, the Wendat and the Mississaugas of the New Credit. We acknowledge and respect these nations as the past, present, and future true inhabitant people of this land. What is today known as Toronto is located in the Dish With One Spoon Territory. The Dish with One Spoon is a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. We want to recognize that we are sharing this land on which Toronto sits with each other.

"Prefix" text

Our latest issue focuses on the way we present ourselves through dress, in acts of reconnection, reconciliation, reclamation, redemption and reflection. PREFIX is a documentation of personal and collective experiences that explore the relationship between fashion and self-expression.
