“The Toll of Isolation,” is a personal essay written by Erica Weekes that explores the impacts of how social isolation has affected her life more deeply than she would have imagined prior to the start of the pandemic. Conceptualised by Danica Hooper, the film captures the alienation of oneself and sheds light on the struggles of depression and anxiety in a quarantined setting through contemporary dance. Directed by Ali Carry, third year Dance student at Ryerson, and Robert Morrison, third year Film student at Ryerson, the repetition of endless chores is a tiring endeavour and the toll of isolation is only amplified by a constant ticking–a reminder that time will pass and there’s no stopping it.
